Vaak geven studio’s steeds verschillende lessen.

The Benefits of Pilates

It is clear that Pilates has become incredibly popular—but why are so many people enthusiastic about it? Pilates offers benefits for both body and mind.

Compared to activities such as running, Pilates is generally lower in intensity. The focus is on control, precision, and awareness of your movements and your body. Many people find the calm atmosphere relaxing and enjoy the mental benefits as much as the physical ones.

Plenty of Variety

One of the great advantages of Pilates is the variety it offers. Classes are rarely the same, with endless possibilities for adapting exercises and creating new routines.

With just a mat or a reformer machine, you can train your entire body. Exercises are available at different levels, making Pilates suitable for both beginners and advanced participants. Because there is so much variation, you are unlikely to become bored or reach a training plateau quickly.

Gentle on the Joints

Do you have an injury, such as knee problems, but still want to stay active? Pilates can be an excellent choice.

Mat Pilates primarily uses your own body weight, placing very little stress on the joints. Reformer Pilates is also a great option, as the resistance of the springs can be adjusted to suit your individual needs, allowing you to move safely and with control.

A Strong Core

At the heart of every Pilates exercise is the core, which forms the foundation of the entire body.

Even when exercises focus on the legs or arms, the core muscles remain engaged. Breathing techniques are often combined with activating the abdominal muscles, helping to build strength, stability, and body awareness.

A strong core not only improves posture and balance but also supports everyday movements and enhances performance in other forms of exercise and sports.
